Manistee has become a tourist destination with all the amenities that go with that, making it a good stop for provisioning (or resting). To learn more about the city’s history stop in the Manistee County Historical Museum (231-723-5531).
If you need a ride around town, the local trolley runs a daily circuit that includes downtown, historic houses, beaches and Orchard Beach State Park (2064 Lakeshore Rd.). From the marinas you can take a stroll along the River Walk with restaurants, taverns, quaint shops and theaters. The long boardwalk along the river will take you to the Lake Michigan beach on the south side.
