First settled in the mid-19th century, Meaford is a commercial and tourism center for the surrounding apple-growing district. A stroll through town presents many handsome brick mansions, an imposing city hall and the Meaford Museum (111 Bayfield St., 519-538-5974).
The Meaford Farmers’ Market is held on the waterfront on Fridays from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (seasonal). Meaford also boasts good restaurants and pubs close to the harbor.
